NSFDC was setup by the Government of India on February 08, 1989 with the name National Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSCSTFDC). It was incorporated as a fully owned Government of India Company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 (Previously Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956).

Scheduled Castes (SCs), who constitute 16.6% of our population as per 2011 Census, have historically suffered social and educational disabilities and economic deprivation arising therefrom. With a view to bring them in the mainstream by socially and to economically strengthen them, special provisions have been enshrined in the Constitution for advancement of their interests. These provisions range from measures to remove any kind of social disabilities imposed on them to ensure equality of opportunity in every sphere, to measures of positive discrimination to bring them on par with rest of the population.

The government is committed to the upliftment and development of all the weaker sections of society, particularly the scheduled castes. As part of the socioeconomic and financial inclusion strategy of the Government to ensure that all segments of the society, particularly the Scheduled castes, are benefited. The Government allocates funds across Ministries/Departments for different schemes where targeted financial and physical benefits can accrue to the Scheduled Castes. The allocation under the scheme of welfare of Scheduled Castes deals with this matter across Ministries through earmarking of a certain percentage of funds exclusively for welfare of Scheduled Castes.

The portal facilitates online submission of NGO’s application proposals alongwith the prescribed documents and automates the complete process for issuance of Grant-in-Aid. Various Back office user have privilege for application processing as per the role defined at District, State Directorate, State Secretariat and at the Central Ministry. The process involves the application verification, checklist filling, inspection report, scrutinizing, screening, recommendation, financial approval and GIA sanction.
